Raku firing is an ancient Japanese technique where ceramics are removed from the kiln at high temperatures and placed in containers of combustible materials, such as saw-dust, producing a distinctive crackled glaze surface.
Denis is continually refining and developing his skills in Raku firing. The fusion of Italian design influences and traditional ceramics techniques adapted for contemporary tastes, results in highly individual items for your visual enjoyment.

He trained sixty potters over 51 years at Aldermaston Pottery, and became regarded as one of the most important living artists specialising in lustre pottery. It will be followed by a Q&A session, and book signings by ACS and the author, Jane White, in her new book on the subject, published by the Ashmolean Museum. |
